FCCPC shuts popular Abuja supermarket over price irregularities

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has taken decisive action by sealing off 4U Supermarket located in the Wuse 2 district of Abuja.

This action carried out on Thursday, is part of a broader enforcement exercise targeting supermarkets across Abuja to ensure compliance with pricing and quantity regulations.

Officials from the FCCPC disclosed that the enforcement exercise targeted several supermarkets in Abuja and aimed to address concerns raised by consumers regarding escalating prices amid recent fluctuations in currency values.

During the raid, a spokesperson for the FCCPC highlighted the importance of adhering to pricing regulations, stating, “Frequent price discrepancies and failure to display prices clearly are unfair practices that undermine consumer trust and violate established regulations.”
