Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of abusing his authority and weakening the Peoples Democratic Party across the South West.
Speaking during an interview on TVC, Fayose alleged that Makinde “took over all the choice lands in the state,” a move he said had alienated many supporters who helped him gain power.
He claimed that “almost everybody who worked for his ascension has been driven away,” suggesting growing discontent among former allies.
Fayose further accused the Oyo governor of dismantling the party’s regional framework, asserting that “Makinde has destroyed all PDP structures in the South-West.”
He also raised concerns about the integrity of the PDP’s candidate selection process in Osun State, alleging that “a candidate who did not even obtain a PDP form eventually became the candidate.”
Recounting a personal experience, Fayose said he was attacked during a political engagement in Osun State, claiming that “Makinde organised an attack on me in Osun,” and dismissively described the governor as “a small boy” politically.
Addressing his own political stature, Fayose referred to himself as an “elder statesman,” maintaining that he governed Ekiti State independently. “I fought my governorship without a godfather,” he said.
He also publicly affirmed his loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stating, “I’m a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am.”
Despite internal party disputes, Fayose reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP, declaring, “I will never join the APC.”
