Fayemi appoints Onisan as chairman of Ekiti monarchs
Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday approved the appointment of the Onisan of Isan Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Adejuwon, as chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Yinka Oyebode, on Tuesday.
The statement titled, ‘Onisan emerges new chair of Ekiti obas’ stated that the appointment, which takes effect from August 1, 2021, came after the reconciliation panel, set up to reconcile the traditional rulers in the state, submitted its report to the governor.
The newly-appointed Oba Adejuwon replaced the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, whose two-year tenure as the Chairman of Ekiti State Traditional Council expired on July 31st.
Oyebode stated that the approval for the two-year tenured appointment was conveyed via a letter from the Bureau of Chieftaincy Affairs and signed by the Executive Secretary, Mr Adegboyega Morakinyo.
Meanwhile, the immediate past chairman of the council, Oba Alabi, has congratulated the Onisan on the appointment, describing it as
“appropriate and well-deserved”, adding that “the Onisan has the wherewithal to hold the position.
Oba Alabi, in a statement by his media adviser, Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, titled ‘Alawe felicitates Onisan on his appointment as new Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers’, said, “I will give the new Chairman the necessary support to make him succeed in the onerous assignment given to him as the chairman of traditional rulers in Ekiti State”.
He expressed gratitude to Fayemi “for appointing the Onisan who will continue with the good work going on in the Council having served meritoriously as the chairman of the Council’s Education Committee for two consecutive terms.
“Onisan has deep understanding of the workings of the Council which he will bring to bear in his new position as the Council Chairman”; the Alawe stated.
