Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has celebrated Nigeria’s former Minister of Information, Chief George Ayo Ogunlade, on his 90th birthday.
Ogunlade, a foremost journalist during his time, served as the seventh Minister of Information (1977-1978) under the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo.
The Oye-Ekiti-born nonagenarian also served as a Minister of National Planning from 1995-1998.
Fayemi, in the congratulatory message uploaded on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday, described the elder statesman as a true leader.
“The Government and good people of Ekiti State, Land of one honour, heartily rejoice with our dearly respected elder statesman, foremost broadcaster, former Federal Minister and one of our own very best, Chief George Ayo Ogunlade, on his 90th birthday today, March 18,2021.
“You remain our pride in Ekiti not only because of the many firsts you have recorded but because you are a leader who radiates the core Ekiti values of integrity, handwork, excellence and honour.
“We wish you many happy returns of the day in good health and undiluted joy,” Fayemi wrote.
