Voters in the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige’s constituency watched in amusement as he battled to get accredited in Saturdays’ Anambra Governorship Election.

Ngige, who turned up early enough for the exercise in his Alor Ward polling unit in the Idemili South Local Government Area, was said to have patiently waited for over an hour as a result of faulty card reader.

While lamenting the failure rate of the machine, which he placed at 30 per cent, the minister insisted on waiting till he cast his ballot.

He also called on the commission to find a way to resort to manual accreditation in such circumstances to allow people to exercise their franchise.

“I have been here for over an hour without success. I’m not impressed. The failure rate is between 25- 30 percent.. This is not encouraging.

“INEC should not be packing the equipment after each election. The should be testing such machine a week to elections in a mock trial.

“I won’t leave here until I vote,” he said.
