The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly beating his 27-year-old daughter to death and secretly burying her in a shallow grave inside his compound.
The incident reportedly happened on March 26 in the Ojo area of Lagos. Police received a distress call on April 3, which led to the arrest.
Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the case while addressing journalists on Monday.
“On April 3, at about 8:00 a.m., a distress call was received at the Okokomaiko Police Division concerning a murder that took place on March 26,” Hundeyin said.
He explained that the suspect, after allegedly killing his daughter, buried her inside his compound to cover up the crime.
“Following the report, a team made up of homicide detectives and crime scene experts visited the location,” Hundeyin added.
“The shallow grave was found. The body was exhumed, photographed, and taken to a public mortuary for autopsy.”
He confirmed that the suspect is now in police custody and that investigations are ongoing.
The police have not yet released the name of the suspect or the victim, but authorities say they will ensure justice is served.
