Two kids, who went missing in Kwara State, have been found dead inside an uncompleted soak-away pit half filled with water.

The residents of the Gure community, Baruten LGA were on Wednesday enraged when they discovered their corpses.

The deceased, Aisha Michael and Ibrahim Bernard, were found dead in the pit, located far from the homes of their respective parents, a day after they had been declared missing.

It was gathered that their discovery was suspicious to residents of the community, as the boy was still crawling, while the girl was only tottering.

Before locating the corpses, people were said to have combed many places in search of the kids whose disappearances happened in separate locations with one said to have taken place at home and the other at the market.

Residents suspected that the kids were killed for a ritual purpose, because another boy had, recently, been found in the same pit, though rescued alive.

A source said,

“The children got missing from different locations. One of the victims got missing at home, while the other got missing at a market.

“The fact that the children were found dead in the same pit has raised suspicion as to the actual cause of the children’s demise.

“The parents of the two children are living in Gure. The parents of one of the deceased children are Nigerians, while the parents of the other child are foreigners.”

Another community member, who declined to be identified, said the residents suspected that the children were killed for ritual purposes.

“Ritual killing is common here; that is why we believe that there is more to the deaths than meets the eye,” he said.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said police were still investigating to unravel how the kids got missing and died.
