Reactions have continued to trail the allegation by Nigerian Afro Singer, Oluwaseun Anikulapo Kuti, popularly known as Seun Kuti, that Nigerian billionaires, politicians and “big men” are contributing to the rise in ritual killings in the country.

The singer made the statement in several Instagram posts on his handle.

In one of the posts, he wrote: “99 percent of the wealth in the country is earned by sacrificing the lives and destinies of millions of Nigerians, that is the real money ritual!! You think say na ordinary eye dey make Dangote trailer no get brake? Then smash children to death?

“Abi na ordinary eye building dey take collapse crush children to death for school? All the lives Wey bad roads dey take? All the avoidable deaths in our hospital? Listen NIGERIA ITSELF IS A MONEY RITUAL! and all your big men and women are RITUALISTS abi na ordinary eye Hair dresser dey take turn Oil Mogul? Abeg make una shift”.

In a follow-up post, the Afrobeat singer said; “Stop Killing African people period. I really wish we will make this viral and stand up against all the people KILLING AFRICANS FOR MONEY! Miss me with the usual SELECTIVE OUTRAGE”.

His scathing post generated mixed reactions from some of his followers.

@fantaxy83, who seemed to be in agreement with his allegation, said; “Louder big bird! The elites- political officer holders ,so called “billionaire” businessman are the biggest “ritualist”! It’s not by coincidence they refused to build and equipped hospitals so people can be dying, they refused to fix road so accident can be taking life, they use substandard materials to build house so building can collapse and take life, they refused to fight insecurity so that bandits can be slaughtering people everyday ,the list goes on and on! The elites kill hundreds of people indirectly everyday because of their actions and inactions! So they are the biggest ritualists , cos they sacrifice innocent lives everyday!“

Another user, kiiziisarts, commented; “Aswear too much killings but they placed so much values on animals in overseas”.

However, @kalakuta_100 expressed reservation about his posture.

“You spoke well, what we suffer most in this country is ignorance, young boys growing up will read different meaning to this ur message and it may now enable them to think ritual is a normal thing. So many young boys who are not even through with secondary school and thinking of ritual will see this ur message as a boost, is not right despite u speaking fact,“ he said.

Another user, @im_iris19 also found his allegation baseless and did not hesitate to tackle him.

“My point is if someone of about 740k+ followers could think sheun is making sense, then they need to be call out either… As a celebrity a lot of ppl are looking up to you and you should be very mindful of ur comments cuz they are very sensitive to ur fanbase,“ he retorted.
