The family of John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has addressed recent reports suggesting that the ailing actor underwent double leg amputation.

Contrary to earlier statements by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Dr Emeka Rollas, the family clarified through a post on Mr Ibu’s Instagram page that the second amputation was performed on the same leg as the initial procedure.

This decision was made because the first amputation did not entirely resolve his health issues.

Dispelling misconceptions, the family revealed that Mr Ibu is not diabetic but has been grappling with persistent blood clotting in his leg and other health complications that pose a serious threat to his life, necessitating the need for the second amputation.

The family disclosed that, despite rumors, the actor has not been transported abroad for advanced treatment due to doctors deeming him “Not fit to fly.”

Providing reassurance, the family shared that Mr Ibu is on the path to recovery, urging his friends, colleagues, fans, and the Nigerian public to include him in their thoughts and prayers.

Additionally, they emphasized the importance of refraining from spreading unverified information about the actor’s health.
