Nigerian artist and lawyer Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has confirmed that cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, reached out to him, requesting N3 million to pay officials for access to the VIP section of a correctional centre.

The confirmation came in a letter addressed to Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VDM, demanding a retraction of allegedly defamatory statements against Falz.

The letter detailed an interaction between Falz and Bobrisky, revealing that Bobrisky had sought financial assistance from the artist.

The letter reads, “Specifically, on the 4th of May, 2024, Mr Idris Okuneye (AKA Bobrisky) contacted our client requesting a phone conversation with him. Our client gratuitously obliged, knowing the Naira abuse charge leveled against him and genuinely believing that he might require legal advice.

“Mr Idris Okuneye (AKA Bobrisky) called shortly after, but instead of soliciting legal advice, stated that he was in distress and needed financial assistance of about N3,000,000 (Three million Naira), which he claimed he needed to pay some officials to be permitted to stay in the VIP section of the correctional centre.

“Our client, in the same conversation, advised him that there was no need to pay officials of the correctional center any money. However, Mr Idris Okuneye (AKA Bobrisky) stated that his lawyers had messed up the case by asking him to plead guilty to the charges against him. Mr Idris Okuneye (AKA Bobrisky) insisted on his request for the money, which our client continuously disapproved.”

Recall that VDM had earlier released an audio conversation between Bobrisky and a man where the crossdresser alleged that rapper, Falz reached out to him saying his father, Femi Falana, said he could help him secure a presidential pardon so his name would be cleared from criminal records.

Bobrisky, who was in prison serving his jail term, claimed the revered lawyer had started the process for the presidential pardon and then reverted to him, saying that the person to help was asking for N10 million.

The artist has however refuted the claims stating that he never had that conversation with Bobrisky.

Meanwhile, Bobrisky, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, refuted the allegations in the leaked audio and denied bribing the EFCC officials.

The crossdresser tagged the viral audio as ‘fake’ and confirmed that he served his six-month jail term at Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Likewise, the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, in a statement on Tuesday ordered an immediate investigation into the bribery allegations alleged in the audio.

He further invited Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators in resolving the alleged bribery.
