Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician Folarin Falana (popularly known as Falz), have demanded a public apology from crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
The demand comes after Bobrisky made defamatory claims against them in audio recordings shared online.
In the audios, Bobrisky alleged that he spoke with Falz, asking him to convince his father, Femi Falana, to help secure a presidential pardon for N10 million.
He also claimed to have requested N3 million from Falz for special treatment at Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Falana’s legal team, in a letter dated 14th October 2024, denied these claims and called them false and damaging. The letter, signed by lawyers Olorunfemi Akinyemi and Taiwo E. Olawanle, stated, “Contrary to your baseless claims, you never instructed our client to write a letter of pardon for you.”
The legal team emphasized that Bobrisky’s statements were entirely false and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of both Falana and Falz. They demanded an immediate apology and retraction of the defamatory claims on all platforms where they were made.
“If we do not receive your formal retraction and apology within 12 (twelve) hours of your receipt of this letter, we will proceed with legal action,” the letter warned.
Bobrisky has yet to respond to the ultimatum.
