The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria disclosed another scheduled power interruption at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Friday.
This announcement comes in response to the controversy stirred by a three-minute power outage at the airport approximately one week ago.
FAAN’s spokesperson, Obiageli Orah, clarified that the upcoming outage would be brief and assured the public of minimal disruption.
A statement posted on the agency’s website explained that the power interruption is part of routine testing of their equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
The message read: “To enhance service delivery, we will be conducting tests on our power equipment at Murtala Muhammed International Airport today. Consequently, there will be a brief power outage this afternoon.”
The recent power outage incident had drawn criticism towards President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as travelers and airport users expressed dissatisfaction with the blackout experienced on a Friday night.
A viral video circulating on social media detailed the ordeal of individuals left in darkness for several minutes at the airport.
