The coronation ceremony of the new Oba of Benin had commenced some months ago but its high points were between yesterday and today, which is the final stage of the whole process of installation.
The event witnessed a massive turnout as indigenes from home and abroad trooped in to witness the historic event.
Recall that Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, the secretary to Edo state government on Tuesday, declared Thursday, October 20, as public holiday in celebration of the coronation of the new Oba of Benin, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa.
Prof. Ihonvbere, in a statement, said the public holiday is in honour of Erediauwa, who will be crowned the 39th Oba of Benin today. He further explained that the public holiday would give Edo people the opportunity to participate in the historic installation of the new Oba of Benin.
