A former Tottenham Hotspur star, Darren Bent, has weighed in on the managerial situation at Manchester United, asserting that the club is too substantial for current manager Erik ten Hag.
Bent’s comments follow Manchester United’s recent UEFA Champions League exit, marked by a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The defeat culminated in Manchester United finishing at the bottom of Group A, managing to secure only four points from six games during the group stage.
Their performance included four losses, one draw, and one victory.
Speaking on talkSPORT about Ten Hag’s suitability for the managerial role at Manchester United, Bent expressed a blunt perspective, stating, “Not up to it, should go.”
He continued by elaborating on his view that the Dutch manager might not be equipped to handle the immense stature of the club, saying, “I don’t think he’s up to it. I think the club’s way too big for him.”
