Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, were on Saturday, conferred with honorary doctorate degrees at Bingham University in Karu, Nasarawa State.
This was made known in the pictures shared on the Twitter handle of Goodluck E. Jonathan @GEJonathan.
Jonathan in a post shared on his Facebook page wrote: I thank Bingham University for considering General Yakubu Gowon and I worthy to be conferred with honorary doctorate degrees and I affirm for anyone anywhere in the world to hear that nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen of any nation. GEJ.
Jonathan and Gen Gowon were warmly welcomed by Bingham University staff and faculty upon arriving on the premises before the two former leaders were awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree by the University management.
The former President acknowledged that he understands that he is being honoured because he ensured a peaceful and united Nigeria as president especially during the 2015 elections.
