The former manager of late Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to the Enugu State Government to offer scholarships to the actor’s children.

Mr Dominic Nwuzor, who managed the late actor for over two decades, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.

Nwuzor, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Don Singles International, said the appeal became necessary to secure the future of Mr Ibu’s children following his death in March 2024.

He urged the Enugu State Government to consider the children, noting that the late actor hailed from Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, providing scholarships for the children would help them acquire quality education and become self-reliant.

“We have appealed for scholarship opportunities for the children, and we will continue to do so, so that something can be done,” he said.

Nwuzor expressed confidence in the disposition of Governor Peter Mbah towards education and the welfare of vulnerable people.

“His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, is a leader with a large heart and does not take lightly the education of the people, especially the vulnerable ones.

“We hope he will consider offering scholarships to the offspring of the man who used his talent to make the state proud across Africa and beyond,” he added.

Mr Ibu remains one of Nigeria’s most beloved comic actors, widely celebrated for his unique comedic style, facial expressions and portrayal of humorous characters.

He rose to fame through his roles in the popular Mr Ibu movies, which made him a household name across Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
