Former Liverpool and Manchester City striker, Mario Balotelli has joined Italian Serie B club, Monza, until the end of the season.
Silvio Berlusconi’s team confirmed the signing of the former Italian international via an announcement on Monday night.
The 30-year-old reunites with former Milan chiefs Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani, under whom he played over 2013 and 2014 and then on loan from Liverpool for the 2015-16 Serie A season.
Balotelli who has been clubless since he left relegated Serie A Brescia last season will now team up with who have ex-Tottenham midfielder Kevin Prince-Boateng in Monza’s squad.
Former Italian prime minister Berlusconi purchased Monza in September 2018 for around three million euros (today $3.6 million) having sold Milan for 740 million euros in April 2017.
The club from just outside Milan earned promotion from third-tier Serie C last season and are currently nine points off the automatic promotion places for the top flight.
The club’s statement read: “To reinforce Monza comes Mario Balotelli, who signed a contract until 30/6/2021.”
The former Inter and AC Milan won the Champions League, three Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup with Inter, for whom he scored 28 goals in 86 games.
He won the Premier League and FA Cup with City, scoring 30 goals in 80 matches.
