Ex-Lagos lawmaker Victor Akande dies after car crash

A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Akande, has died from injuries he suffered in a car crash.

Akande, who was a lawyer and two-term lawmaker, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Family sources said he had been battling complications after an auto accident that happened last week in the Ojo area of Lagos.

Akande represented Ojo Constituency I in the Assembly from 2015 to 2023. He was first elected under the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015, before moving to the All Progressives Congress where he won re-election in 2019.

During his time in the Assembly, he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission.

The late lawmaker is survived by his wife and children.
