Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, has announced that he will no longer seek any elective political office in the state.
He made this known while receiving members of his “Redemption” political structure in Owerri.
According to Udenwa, the decision is driven by his desire to create space for younger politicians to emerge and pursue leadership opportunities.
He, however, assured members of the group that he would remain actively involved in politics in a mentoring capacity, offering guidance and support to help them achieve their aspirations.
The former governor expressed gratitude to supporters who have continued to commend his administration, noting that the achievements recorded during his tenure were largely the result of collective effort within the Redemption group.
He said, “People praised my administration but it’s not my making but the team work of all of us we had enough principle that kept us going ,my administration achieved success through participatory democracy that’s what I think Redemption meant.”
Udenwa further encouraged members of the group to remain focused and committed as they prepare for greater responsibilities ahead.
He said, “Most of you want to play a greater role in future for me I don’t want to contest any longer but many of you are still young but you have to be purposeful . I want you to keep redemption alive and take it to the next level , we were underdogs when it was established I’m happy today that we’re a force to reckon with in the State.”
