An ex-convict, Yemi Aparaojo, and his partner, Samuel Adekunle, are set to face trial after allegedly robbing a man of N25,000 in the Mile 12 area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command said the suspects attacked a passerby who was trying to help them with money when they forcefully collected the cash and assaulted him.

According to a statement released on the official Facebook page of the Rapid Response Squad, the two men, along with two others who are still on the run, approached the victim around noon last week, asking for financial help. After pestering him, they suddenly turned violent, beat him up, and took his money.

One of the suspects, Aparaojo, also known as Asa, is a 33-year-old ex-convict who was released from the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre in May 2025 after serving six and a half years. His accomplice, Adekunle, popularly called Omo-jo-Ibo, is 37 years old and has been linked to multiple traffic robberies in the Ketu and Ajelogo areas. Police said they had been watching him closely for some time.

The victim later spotted Adekunle around Ketu and quickly informed RRS operatives, who arrested the two suspects immediately. The remaining two members of the gang escaped through Ketu Market.

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, has ordered that the arrested suspects be charged to court without delay. The Commander of the RRS, CSP Sola Jejeloye, has also reinforced patrols around Ketu and Mile 12 to prevent similar crimes.

Police are still hunting for the two fleeing suspects.
