Former Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, is reportedly keen to become Manchester United’s new coach if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets sacked.

The Norwegian has been under pressure following United’s poor run of form after taking just one point from their last four Premier League matches.

Sunday afternoon’s 5-0 hammering at home against their bitter rival, Liverpool, has pushed Solskjaer closer to the exit.

According to UK Guardian, Conte who has been out of since departing Serie A champions, Internazionale in May, is reportedly ready to return to coaching with the Red Devils.

Conte won the Premier League in his opening campaign at Chelsea in 2016-17 and the FA Cup the following year.

Local media reports on Monday suggests that several players are questioning whether the Norwegian can take the team any further.

Several dressing-room sources told the publication that Solskjaer, 48, is considered tactically underwhelming while being well-liked by the squad and within the wider club.

The club’s managing director, Richard Arnold, is understood to have cancelled all appointments on Monday to hold talks with Joel Glazer, who heads the American family’s ownership.

Although Conte has not received any formal contact from the club, the Italian would make an exception for United because he considers the club a special opportunity.

The 52-year-old would want to understand United’s vision before putting pen to paper.

Meanwhile, a number of United fans on social media seem to fancy former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, for the job.
