Premier League side, Everton, have sacked manager, Rafa Benitez, as the club’s manager on Sunday after a poor run of form.

The Spaniard who joined the blue half of Merseyside in June 2021 lasted only seven months in the post and was booted following a defeat to relegation-threatened Norwich City on Saturday.

A club statement read, “Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as First Team manager.

“Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the club with immediate effect.

“An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.”

Benitez has managed a host of high-profile clubs across a decorated managerial career spanning almost 30 years, including Valencia, Liverpool, Newcastle, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Napoli.

He was also interim head coach at Chelsea from 2012 to 2013 and spent two years in China with Dalian Professional before returning to England to join Everton.
