Europa League: Chelsea win on penalties to set up all-English final with Arsenal

Chelsea win Eintracht Frankfurt 4-3 on penalties at the Stamford Bridge to set up Europa League final with their London rivals Arsenal.

Arsenal had beaten La Liga side Valencia 7-3 on aggregate, while in the other semi-final Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt finished 2-2 on aggregate after extra time before chelsea won 4-3 on penalties to finally overcome their tough Bundesliga challengers.

The result means both of Europe’s club competitions will feature all-English finals after Tottenham Hotspur set up a June 1 title decider with Liverpool in the Champions League.

This is the first time that all four places in the Champions League/European Cup and Europa League/Uefa Cup finals will be filled by one country.

For Chelsea, this is their first major European final since the 2013 Europa League, when they beat Benfica 2-1 under manager Rafael Benitez.

Arsenal’s last European final was the 2006 Champions League final which they lost to Barcelona.
