Scottish giant, Celtic, earned their first points in the 2021/22 Europa League competition by defeating Ferencváros 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Celtic Park.

Celtic lost their first two opening matches of Group C to contenders Real Betis (4-3) and Bayer Leverkusen(4-0), conceding seven goals in total and scoring just three.

Ange Postecoglou’s men needed a response with their qualification to the next round uncertain and they got the response they deserved with the confident win over their Hungarian counterpart.

After an inseparable first half, Kyogo Furuhashi broke the deadlock in the 57th minute after connecting with a sublime pass from Portuguese star, Jota.

Celtic were awarded a penalty moments later but Callum McGregor’s attempt to double the hosts’ lead was saved by Dénes Dibusz.

Nine minutes to the end of regular time, Celtic scrambled to seal the win with a second goal by David Turnbull.

The Bhoys are third in Group D with three points behind Leverkusen and Betis who face each other on Thursday in Spain.
