Europa League: Arsenal beat Dundalk 4-2 to maintain perfect record

Arsenal maintained a 100% record by beating Irish side, Dundalk 4-2 away from home to finish Group B unbeaten in the Europa League.

Mikel Arteta’s side scored a total of 20 goals in the entire six group games and conceded just five as they bagged the entire available 18 points, eight ahead of second-placed Molde.

Eddie Nketiah gave the Gunners the lead in the 12th minute of the first half as he found his way into the opponent’s box before finding the back of the net after beating Dundalk’s goalkeeper, Gary Rogers.

Egyptian midfielder, Mohamed Elneny made it 2-0 six minutes later with a stunning strike from 25 yards that powered its way into the home team’s net. Rogers couldn’t do anything to save the thunderous strike.

Dundalk made it 2-1 in the 22nd minute after Jordan Flores netted one back for the home side following an assist from Michael Duffy as the first half ended.

The second half went the way of the first half as Arsenal scored two more goals to kill the hopes of a comeback.

An assist from Folarin Balogun set up Joe Willock for Arsenal’s third goal in the 67th minute as the former beat Rogers with a fierce, low effort which found the back of the net.

Balogun, who only came on as a substitute, added his name to the scoresheet in the 80th minute to take the scoreline to 4-1 in favour of the away team with Nicolas Pepe providing the assist.

Seán Hoare, assisted by Flores, scored Dundalk’s second-half consolation five minutes later to ensure that the game ended 4-2.
