Europa League, a title to play for and Arsenal’s road into the Champions League – Emery
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has insisted that his players will put aside the disappointment of not finishing in the Premier League top four when they face Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium in Spain in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.
The Gunners suffered a 1-1 draw with Brighton on Sunday, confirming they will miss the Champions League next season unless they win the Europa.
Emery, however, feels the Gunners can achieve the feat, saying:
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Emery said:
“I think they will switch off (from the disappointment). We are going to be strong in our mentality to prepare the best possible match on Thursday.
“The Premier League is our first target and we didn’t get the position we wanted, we couldn’t be in the top four.
“But we play on Thursday in the second leg and this is a title to play for and a way to go to the Champions League.”
