Cardiff City forward, Kieffer Moore, salvaged a point for Wales as they played a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in the second Group A match of the Euro 2020 Championship on Saturday at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

Both sides played a goalless draw in the first 45 minutes before Cameroon-born Borussia Mönchengladbach striker, Breel Embolo, gave Switzerland the deserving lead having threatened more in the first half.

Embolo nicked the opener with a header from Xherdan Shaqiri’s corner, beating Wales’ goalie Danny Ward shortly after the restart.

However, Moore who was in non-league football with Forest Green Rovers when Wales reached the competition’s semis in 2016 was the hero for the Welsh team.

The 28-year-old forced an acrobatic save from Swiss goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, the best chance in the first half, but he wasn’t to be denied in the second half as his header secured a hard-fought point for Wales.

As it stands, Group A remains in Italy’s control after a bright start earned them a 3-0 win in the tournament’s opening match last night against Turkey while Wales and Switzerland line up second and third with one point apiece.
