A commercial building manager identified as Andrew Bone has been suspended by his employers, Savills, pending an investigation over the racial abuse targeted towards England players on Sunday.
The trio of Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho was targeted by online trolls with harsh comments after missing their penalties during the intense EURO 2020 final against Italy at Wembley.
UK Sun reports that a racial post traced to Bone’s Twitter account branded the young players the N-word in a tweet that read “N***ers ruined it for us.”
Although his family claimed Bone isn’t racist, adding that his account had been hacked and Bone was in contact with the police, Savills has since suspended the individual and commenced an investigation into the online abuse.
The real estate company said: “Savills confirms that the staff member connected with the racist comments placed on Twitter claims that his account was taken over by a third party and that the matter is being referred to Greater Manchester Police.
“Savills have acted swiftly and confirmed that the individual is suspended from duty pending the findings of this investigation, which is being progressed as a priority.
“Savills has a policy of zero tolerance on any form of racial abuse or discrimination.”
Meanwhile, Bone’s family also claimed that he shut down his accounts when he began receiving messages.
