EUL: Osimhen bags brace, Ndidi sees red as Napoli hold Leicester

The clash of Eagles in the UEFA Europa League ended in a 2-2 draw between Leicester City and Napoli.

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, netted a brace to rescue a point for Napoli as they came from two goals behind to earn a point in their opening Group C game.

Luciano Spalleti’s side fell behind to an Ayoze Pérez’s early opener nine minutes into the game, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Perez beat David Ospina to send the King Power Stadium wild after converting a perfect cross from Harvey Barnes.

The visitors kept pushing for an equaliser but Kasper Schmeichel remained unbeaten as Brendan Rodgers’ men took the lead into the break.

Napoli’s night went from bad to worse 19 minutes after the break when Harvey Barnes (64′) found the back of the net after an assist from another Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho.

Leicester were cruising with a two-goal lead but Osimhen took the centre stage with another plan in mind.

The Nigerian struck four minutes after with a superb lob over Schmeichel after an assist from Fabian Ruiz, handing Spalleti’s men a lifeline.

Leicester held on to the slender lead until three minutes to the end of the match when Osimhen struck again with a perfect header from a Matteo Politano cross to take the game to 2-2.

The night however went from good to bad for another Nigerian, Wilfred Ndidi, who was handed a second yellow card, leading to a red, for pilling the shirt of Onus in the final two minutes with of three added-time.

Legia Warsaw who beat Spartak Moscow top Group C while Leicester and Napoli stay 2nd and 3rd respectively.
