EPL: Man Utd end losing streak after 1-1 draw against Chelsea

Published

Manchester United ended their two-game losing streak by forcing Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

The Red Devils were battered in their last two Premier LEague games against Liverpool and Arsenal, concerning seven goals while managing to score just once.

With “the top four is gone,” according to the interim manager, Ralf Ragnick, United needed a response against Chelsea as they await the arrival of new manager, Eik ten Hag, who is expected to begin the new era.

Hungry to cement their place in the third position, Chelsea piled pressure on the home side, registering 21 (six on target) shots against United after 90 minutes.

Ragnick’s men had David De Gea to thank for denying the advances of Thomas Tuchel’s side throughout the match.

However, De Gea’s heroics failed to stop Marcos Alonso in the 60th minute as his fellow Spaniard fired The Blues ahead.

Sadly, Chelsea’s lead only lasted two minutes when former Blues’ star, Nemanja Matic, found Cristiano Ronaldo with a lovely lob to allow the Portuguese to score the equalizer.

Ronaldo has now netted 23 goals in all competitions for United this season, including his record-60th career hat trick, which he netted against Norwich.

The introduction of Christian Pulisic and ex-Red Devil, Romelu Lukaku, did nothing to affect the scoreline as both sides shared the spoils.
