Manchester City have completed the signing of England centre-back Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace on a long-term deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2031.

Guéhi brings an end to his four-year stay at Selhurst Park, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders and a key figure in Palace’s back line.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on Monday, writing, “Marc Guéhi joins Man City from Crystal Palace on contract until June 2031.”

The 25-year-old is reported to have joined City for an initial fee of £20 million, with add-ons included in the deal.

City moved quickly to secure his signature as Pep Guardiola looks to strengthen his defensive options following injury concerns in the squad.

Speaking after completing the move, Guéhi expressed delight at joining the champions.

“I am really happy and incredibly proud to be a Manchester City player,” he said.

“This move feels like the culmination of all the hard work I have put into my career. I am now at the best club in England and part of an unbelievable squad of players.”

He added, “I absolutely cannot wait to get started now. I want to meet my teammates, train hard, understand what the manager expects of me and then show the City fans what I can do.”

Guéhi is expected to compete immediately for a starting role, offering depth and long-term stability in central defence.

Manchester City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, praised the defender’s qualities.

“It is clear Marc has been one of the best defenders in English football for quite some time now, so we are absolutely delighted to bring him to Manchester City,” he said.

Guéhi becomes City’s second signing of the January transfer window as the club continues to reinforce its squad for the second half of the season.
