Chelsea might have gone on top of the Premier League table with the 2-0 win over Newcastle but gaffer, Frank Lampard is refusing to get carried away.

The Blues bagged all three points thanks to an own goal by Fernandez and man of the match, Tammy Abraham’s 65th-minute goal.

Lampard’s men capped their impressive away win with five clean sheets in their last six matches in all competitions to go top of the league with Leicester, Liverpool and Tottenham yet to play and the Englishman chooses to be humble.

Speaking after the game at St James’ Park, Lampard hailed his players performance in the game, admitting it was difficult.

He went further to say he won’t get carried away with the football season only starting.

“It’s not an easy game. We played well in patches and the result is key in these games. The Premier League is tough, relentless, and we dealt with the challenge of the game very well.

“I won’t get excited about being top of the table for five minutes. It’s important to be humble and know it’s a long race.”
