Former Manchester City and Everton defender Joleon Lescott has claimed that Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is more likely to join Liverpool than Arsenal this summer.

Isak, who has been in top form for Newcastle, has been linked to both clubs. The Swedish international has scored 24 goals and provided five assists in 33 matches this season. He also played a key role in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup victory last month and is currently third on the Premier League’s top scorer list, behind Mohamed Salah (27 goals) and Erling Haaland (21 goals).

Speaking on *The Dressing Room Podcast*, Lescott dismissed the possibility of Isak joining Arsenal despite reports of the club’s strong interest.

“I’ve heard that Arsenal have a massive kitty to spend this summer. That doesn’t matter. He’s not going to Arsenal. Arsenal would be surprising,” Lescott said.

He believes Liverpool will push for Isak as they prepare for changes in their attack.

“I think Liverpool come in. If I was Liverpool, I would try and sign him. Salah isn’t going to score 30 goals every season. They need someone to share that load, they need someone to get 15 or 20,” he added.

With key Liverpool players like Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season, the club is looking to strengthen its attack, and Isak has emerged as a top target.

Meanwhile, journalist Graeme Bailey from *GiveMeSport* has reported that Arsenal will shift their focus to Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres if they fail to land Isak
