Tottenham Hotspur forced Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in London on Sunday night thanks to erroneous goalkeeping from Alisson Becker.
Antonio Conte’s side were playing their first game after the COVID-19 disruption left their squad depleted and about three matches cancelled.
England skipper, Harry Kane broke the deadlock in the space of 13 minutes to give the host a much-deserved lead.
Kane ended his goal drought of eight league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without scoring by netting his first home goal in the Premier League in 788 minutes of play, according to OptaJoe.
A fingertip save by Alisson denied Dele Alli from netting a second goal for the hosts, keeping the visitors in the encounter.
Portuguese sensation, Diogo Jota, netted his 10th goal of the season to draw Jurgen Klopp’s men level in the frenetic clash.
Both sides came firing in the second half but it was Alisson who stole the show by denying Kane a clear chance after a pass from Alli.
The Englishman missed a close-range effort two minutes after as he watched his header drive inches beyond the goal post.
But it was Liverpool who found the back of the net through Andy Robertson’s close-range header from six yards (69′) after a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Reds thought they would run away with the three points but their lead was cut short after just five minutes when Alisson went from hero to villain.
The Brazilian made a terrible blunder when he missed his clearance allowing Son Heung-min to level matters (2-2) by tapping the ball into the open net.
Things went from bad to worse for Liverpool three minutes later when Robertson was red-carded for a reckless tackle on Emerson Royal.
The referee initially gave the Scottish skipper a yellow card for the challenge, but upon review on the pitchside monitor, referee Paul Tierney overturned his decision for a red card.
The decision will leave the visitors fuming as Kane escaped a red card in the first half.
Both sides settled for a draw eventually, leaving Liverpool three points behind league leaders Manchester City who thrashed Newcastle United 4-0 earlier on Sunday.
Tottenham lie seventh on the log with an outstanding of three matches following the COVID-19 disruption.
