EPL: 10-man Brentford sink Wolves to third consecutive home defeat

Premier League newcomers, Brentford, defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday.
The Bees secured their second victory in the top flight, their first away victory in 74 years in the Premier League.
Wolves, however, suffered their third straight home defeat in the 2021/22 EPL season, leaving Bruno Lage’s men with only one win in five opening matches.
Ivan Toney had the ball in the back of the net eight minutes into the game but his ‘goal’ is ruled out for an offside called on Mbeumo in the build-up.
Brentford were handed a penalty after Fernando Marcal was finally punished for holding Toney during a corner.
The 25-year-old was not going to be denied as he blasted the spot-kick beyond the reach of Jose Sa who went the wrong way to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.
Toney thought he had doubled the lead three minutes after but his goal was disallowed again by the VAR, this time for a handball.
Moments after, Adama Traore almost drew Wolves level with a shot from 25 yards but the strike deflected off Jansson to send the keeper, David Raya, the wrong way but the ball ended up thumping off the underside of the crossbar.
Wolves went down by two goals in the 34th minute after Toney relentless run found him in the hosts’ box before he teed up Bryan Mbeumo for a tap in to make it 2-0.
Brentford were reduced to 10-men in the second half after Shandon Baptiste who was about to be substituted received a second yellow card in the 64th minute for a rough tackle on Trincao.
Wolves failed to pose more threats with the one-man advantage and ended the game without a single shot on target.
