Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has applauded the Department of State Services for apprehending five suspected high-profile kidnappers operating from forest hideouts across the state.

Acting on credible intelligence, DSS operatives tracked the suspects to two separate locations on Wednesday, leading to their arrest.

The suspects are believed to be members of a notorious gang responsible for a series of kidnappings in Udi Local Government Area and other parts of Enugu State.

According to the PUNC, it was revealed that the suspects confessed to collecting huge sums of money as ransom from victims’ families.

“Items recovered from the suspects included large sums of money being proceeds of their illicit activities, lethal weapons, and other dangerous objects,” the statement read.

Governor Mbah assured residents that security forces, including the DSS, military, police, and state-owned forest guards, would sustain the crackdown on other fleeing gang members and dismantle their camps in the forests.
