Tragedy as Hollywood star Alec Baldwin kills woman on set after firing prop gun

Hollywood star, Alec Baldwin, has accidentally killed a woman after firing a prop gun on the set of his new movie.

UK Metro reports that another individual was injured during the tragedy that occurred on Thursday while Baldwin, 63, filming the 19th century western in New Mexico.

The Mission Impossible: Fallout star was said to have killed the movie’s director of photography who was identified as 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins.

According to People, Hutchins succumbed to injuries from the shooting at the University of New Mexico Hospital where she was airlifted for treatments after the shooting.

Baldwin also injured the film’s director Joel Souza, 48, during the fatal accident.

"The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones," a rep for Rust Movies Productions LLC said.

"We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation," the statement continued.

They added: "We will be providing counselling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event."

The police have questioned the 63-year-old action but he has been released afterwards and there were no charges filed against him, however, the investigation remains open.

A police official said: "Mr Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released. No arrests or charges have been filed.

"This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives."
