Trademark war: Reggae star, Easy, threatens lawsuit against Eazi
Reggae star Mr. Easy has threatened to sue fellow artiste, Mr Eazi, for using a name that is similar to his.
Easy said fans had been left confused about his identity leading to the loss of several businesses.
Dancehall Mag reports that Easy had to reassure his fans that he did not fail to appear for a New York concert headlined by Eazi after many questioned his absence.
The 'Drive Me Crazy' singer accused the Nigerian star of using his copyright similar to his, leading to fans' conflict who attend shows expecting to see him.
"There is another artist who is using my name, and copyright mark and their use, or threatened use, of said mark is confusingly similar to my mark and that is the main issue.
"This is causing a confusion and a conflict, people are going to shows expecting to see me, my fans are upset and it’s very confusing,” Mr. Easy told DancehallMag.
Easy said the confusion, which you can also spot in this article, had caused damage to his brand.
He revealed that he had spoken to a lawyer in the UK and told him to urge Eazi's team to "cease and desist from the use of a brand" similar to his.
