Oscars 2022: Teary Will Smith wins Best Actor award after punching Chris Rock

Actor, Will Smith's night at the Oscars 2022 took a dramatic turn when he won the Best Actor award moments after smacking presenter, Chris Rock, on stage.

WuzupNigeria quoting The U.S. Sun reported that Smith smacked Rock over a joke involving his wife, Jada Pinkett.

However, moments after the drama Smith returned to the stage, in tears, to accept the Best Actor award for King Richard.

"Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family," the teary actor began his speech as he dedicated the award to Venus and Serena's father, Richard.

"I want to apologize to the academy," he said toward the end of his speech. "I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees."

"Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father, just like what they said about Richard Williams.

"But love will make you do crazy things."
