The Metropolitan Museum of Art, organisers of the Met Gala, paid a special tribute to Rihanna by unveiling a marble statue in her honour.
The pregnant pop sensation, who is expecting her first child with rapper-boyfriend A$AP Rocky, could not attend the 2022 Met Gala.
The show, arguably fashion’s biggest night, was co-chaired by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda invited celebrities and fashion icons to bring their own takes on the "Gilded Glamour" theme.
Rihanna's marble statue is a replica of her baby bump shoot which was used for the cover of Vogue magazine's tribute to the actress in its May edition.
The singer thanked the museum and Vogue magazine for paying her a historic tribute.
“Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one,” she wrote.
Vogue also shared a video of the statue on its official Instagram page on Tuesday.
"The statue of “Eirene (The Personification of Peace)” is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries. But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover," the magazine captioned the video.
