American socialite, Kim Kardashian, shed a whopping 16 pounds in three weeks to enable her to fit into her Marilyn Monroe outfit.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, according to USA Today, was one of the last celebrities to arrive on the carpet.
This year's event was co-chaired by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and it invited celebrities and fashion icons to bring their own takes on the "Gilded Glamour" theme.
Accompanied by her beau, "SNL" comedian Pete Davidson, Kardashian channelled old Hollywood, wearing the same dress Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 during her performance of "Happy Birthday" for then-President John F. Kennedy.
According to Vogue, Kardashian wore the dress for a few minutes before changing into a replica, so as not to damage the original.
She told Vogue on the carpet that she lost 16 pounds in three weeks in order to fit into the historic dress.
“It was like preparing for a role,” Kardashian, who, per PageSix, also bleached her hair platinum blond and wore a white fur shrug to complete the look, said of her dedication to transforming into Monroe.
"I had this idea to put it on and try it on, and then they came with like, armed guards and gloves," she said. "It was like a role. I was determined to fit into it. I don't think they believed I was going to do it, but I did it."
