Lil Nas X dreams of collaboration with Rema
Controversial American rapper, Montero Lamar Hill – popularly called Lil Nas X, has named Nigeria’s superstar, Rema, as one of the entertainers he would love to work with.
The Montero (Call Me By Your Name) singer made the revelation via his verified Instagram as he shared a TikTok of entertainers he hopes to collaborate with in future.
Alongside Rema, the list of artists includes, Ariana Grande, Cardi B, SZA, Tyler the Creator, Lady Gaga, and Willow Smith.
The 22-year-old accompanied the clip with a terse note which read, “Which song do u guys think would be best?”
Dubbed the ‘Industry Baby’, Lil Nas X became of the most talked-about American artist in 2021 after dropping visuals for Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
The video, which features the rapper sliding down a pole to hell before giving the devil a lap dance, attracted criticism from conservative politicians and commentators, who say the song encourages devil-worshipping and scandalizes young fans, according to UK Guardian.
Since the premiere of the video on Mar 26, 2021, it has attracted well over 370million views on popular streaming site, Youtube.
Lil Nas X also attracted condemnation and popularity when he promoted Satan Shoes, a pair of modified Nike Air Max 97s that displayed a pentagram and contain “a drop of human blood”.
Nike was forced to file a trademark infringement lawsuit against MSCHF Product Studio – a Brooklyn company that made “Satan Shoes” in collaboration with the rapper.
They agreed to voluntarily recall the shoes, as part of a legal settlement with the athletics giant.
CNBC reports that the black-and-red, devil-themed sneakers, which carry the Nike “swoosh” logo quickly sold out at $1,018 a pair.
