Iyabo Ojo nominated for Yoruba film award despite TAMPAN suspension

Published

Actress and Producer, Iyabo Ojo, has been nominated for the Yoruba Music and Films Awards despite her supposed suspension by the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria.

But Iyabo Ojo shared her nomination fliers on Instagram with the caption, ‘2 categories! Whoever wins, we’re all winners’, on Tuesday.

The categories are ‘Best Actress 2020/2021’ and ‘World Most Relentless Influential Act 2020/2021’.

Veteran actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, speaking on behalf of TAMPAN, had on Sunday, June 27, warned that the ‘unruly behavior’ of Iyabo Ojo and her colleague, Nkechi Blessing would not be tolerated.

Kosoko said, “As you may be aware, certain unpleasant things have happened lately that have dragged the name of our association, TAMPAN in particular, and the industry in general in the mud, which in totality are against what we stand for as individuals and as a group of professionals.

“We particularly observe the continuous derogatory statements made by Iyabo Ojo against the Association and the industry as a whole.

Speaking further, he said, “What is the penalty? Yes, we have quite a lot, we are only being careful. I am not joking. Even if the law says you are free to practice anything you like, we can frustrate you out of the industry in our own way. If you think you are above the law, we can get you out of the industry in our way” he said.
