Mexican music great, Vicente Fernández, aka ‘King of Rancheras' has passed away on Sunday morning.
Fondly "Chente" by his fans, Fernández was 81-years-old.
The U.S. Sun reports that the octogenarian passed away after numerous health issues in recent years.
"Rest in peace, Mr. Vicente Fernández. We regret to inform you of his death on Sunday, December 12 at 6:15 a.m.
"It was an honour and great pride to share with everyone a great musical career and to give everything for his audience.
"Thank you for continuing to applaud, thank you for continuing to sing," a statement on his Instagram page read.
Fernández received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1998.
