Popular Nigerian singer-songwriter, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about how she discovered her musical talent.

In a recent interview with Vanguard, the ‘Somebody Son’ crooner revealed that she ventured into singing to impress her school crush.

Although she discovered her talent, the mother-of-one revealed that her school crush never paid attention to her afterwards.

“Actually, it was a boy. I had a crush on a boy when I was in school and he used to hang out with all the musicians, so I told my teacher I wanna sing and he said okay, sing something and when I did he said you actually have a pretty voice.

“And when I started singing, the guy still did not pay me any attention. But I discovered my talent through that.

The singer who is now known for her craft home and abroad admitted that stardom does come with its hiccups.

Speaking further she revealed that “I don’t like the fact that your private life is not private anymore. Anything that you do is under the microscope and you are judged ten times more than somebody who is not a musician.

“The most difficult thing is knowing that you don’t live for yourself anymore, you live for the people and that can be hard sometimes because you tend to touch yourself all the time.

“You are always like: can I do this? You are always questioning yourself. But I’ve just learnt to be myself and know that if that has gotten me this far, and me having God on my side, then I will go farther.”
