As the world anticipates the new name of social media giant, Facebook, a former exec of the company has guessed what Mark Zuckerberg's rebrand will be.
The news of Facebook's proposed rebrand which includes a change in the company's name was reported by The Verge on Tuesday and the reveal is expected in the coming days.
UK Sun quoted Facebook ex-civic integrity chief, Samidh Chakrabarti, as suggesting that the US tech titan will operate under the moniker "Meta".
The moniker was drawn from the company's virtual world project known as "metaverse".
WuzupNigeria reported that Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will employ 10,000 people over the next five years to create metaverse - an online world where people can use different devices to move and communicate in a virtual environment.
Taking a guess about the company's new name, Chakrabarti tweeted, “My best guess for the new name: ‘Meta'.
"But I'd prefer something more classic like simply 'A Mark Zuckerberg Production'."
Zuckerberg is reportedly planning a formal unveiling of the name next Thursday at Connect, the company’s annual virtual reality conference.
The rebrand would likely position Facebook's social media app as one of many products under a parent company.
