The Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival has announced the addition of a new category for AI-generated films, signaling a progressive shift in the future of filmmaking.
This groundbreaking decision underscores the festival’s dedication to embracing emerging technologies and pushing creative limits in the cinematic world.
The new category for AI-generated films follows the success of ENIFF’s “Storytelling With AI” workshop held last year.
The workshop brought together filmmakers and writers from Nigeria and Kenya, both emerging and established, to explore the role of artificial intelligence in the art of filmmaking.
Alongside the AI-generated category, filmmakers are invited to submit works across several other categories, including Documentary (Feature and Short), Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Animation, and Experimental. In addition, awards will be presented in key areas such as acting, directing, and cinematography.
ENIFF, which was founded six years ago, has become a prominent annual festival and platform for independent filmmakers and digital media artists. The festival is also known for its commitment to empowering female filmmakers and fostering diversity across all genres.
Submissions for the 2025 festival are open until August 31, with the event scheduled to take place from November 26 to 29, 2025.
