Popular entertainers, Kaffy and Dr Sid have taken to the comment section of the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to react to his imposition of a 24 hours curfew in the state.
They expressed their displeasure towards the governor’s decision to impose a curfew in the state due to the ongoing #ENDSARS protest.
The dance queen, Kaffy, stated that the governor could have protected the protesters he claimed to support.
She wrote, “It’s a pity sir that you could have protected the protest you claim you support as the right of your citizens from the very moment you announced your support for it by ensuring this kind of thing doesn’t happen. You could have made sure the security personnel under your command should ensure what you told us you are in support of is not jeopardized.
“You knew this could happen and like you said sir you “watched” it turn bad. I wish you made declarations to ensure the continuity of a peaceful environment than when it had to come to this. So it makes me wonder how you would guarantee security in the near future when we can’t be secured voicing out peacefully? The curfew is just a band-aid on an amputated leg o.”
Over the moon singer, Dr Sid, also suggested to the governor to protect the peaceful protesters instead of imposing a curfew so that he does not come across as a governor who silences the voice of his people.
“Your excellency, may I suggest that instead of imposing a curfew and coming across as someone who is trying to silence the voice of the people can you deploy security operatives to protect the people exercising their right as citizens of this great nation and root out these hoodlums turning protests violent. Trust me they will have the support of the people. We will identify and the wolves in sheep’s clothing. This curfew you are imposing may potentially lead to more violence. From all your communications I believe you stand with the people, now is the time to show it with your actions, sir,” Dr Sid said.
