Latest reports from England says Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi has been told he is free to leave Chelsea during January transfer window.

Mikel Obi, who is the second oldest player at Chelsea after the club captain, John Terry, is yet to make any appearance for Chelsea this season.

According to reports, when Mikel spoke with coach Antonio Conte over his lack of games the manager told him he can leave in January during the meeting.

“Talks were held between Mikel and the manager. As for now, he has been told he can leave in January, mind you his contract is set to expire in the summer,” a source close to the midfielder said.

“There’s every possibility for him to leave Chelsea either on loan or permanently in January. But the summer looks more likely. Every story must have an end. After 11 seasons, Mikel wants to move on and so too Chelsea,” the source added.

There have been reports that Mikel Obi is already on the look out for clubs for him to join in January.

Below are three clubs Mikel might be considering to join should he leave Chelsea in January:

Napoli:

Italian giants Napoli have been hounding to sign John Obi Mikel since the year 2013 and it would be recalled how Rafa Benitez wanted to snap the Nigerian star who was struggling then to break into the Chelsea first team.

Napoli are still much interested to sign John Obi Mikel and a first team shirt would be sure for him should he consider leaving the Blues.

Shanghai Shenhau:

Shanghai Shenhau is one of the Chinese top clubs that have been trying to bring top super stars to come and play in the country.

Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins signed for this club in a multi million dollar deal joining Senegalese striker Demba Ba who also had a stint at Chelsea.

Going by the lack of playing times of John Obi Mikel at Chelsea, Shanghai Shenhau would be interested to snap him up should Mikel show interest of playing in the China.

Besiktas:

Besiktas is another club being rumoured to be planning a mega move for the Eagles captain. Having not played a single competitive game for the Blues under new manager Antonio Conte, Mikel could now look to leave Stamford Bridge when the next transfer window opens.
