The eagerly awaited judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court is set to be delivered on Wednesday, September 6th.
This announcement was confirmed by the Court of Appeal Registrar, Umar Bangari, on Monday. Also, the proceedings will be accessible for live broadcast by interested television stations.
The presidential candidates and parties, including the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Allied Peoples Movement, had lodged petitions with the tribunal, seeking to invalidate the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, where President Bola Tinubu was declared the winner.
This landmark judgment comes alongside the anticipated decisions by election tribunals in 25 states, addressing petitions related to governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly elections.
In what has been a notable contestation, the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission have been challenged in no less than 25 states among the 28 states where elections took place.
Chief Registrar Umar Mohammed Bangari of the Court of Appeal affirmed the definite date for judgment, assuring the public of a seamless delivery of verdicts for the three petitions.
These petitions were filed by presidential candidates Abubakar Atiku of the PDP, Peter Obi of LP, and the APM.
Emphasizing security measures for this critical event, Bangari stated, “adequate security has been put in place,” he also specified that access to the courtroom would be limited to invited members of political parties and the general public to prevent overcrowding and security breaches.
